001: Resolving Conflict God’s Way (An Introduction)

Greetings! Welcome to The Biblical Counseling Podcast.

Conflicts are like forest fires. If you address them when they are still small, you can save yourself much grief. In this episode, we address the first prerequisite to resolving conflict in interpersonal relationships. James says, "...The tongue is a flame of fire...It can set your whole life on fire..."

What is it that most often prevents conflicts from being resolved? Pride is the one sin, above all others, that hinders our ability to resolve conflicts with others. Proverbs 13:10 says, "Pride leads to conflict..." What is the opposite of pride? Humility. Paul says, "I beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle." The first prerequisite for resolving conflict God's Way is humility. Do you know that there are prerequisites to resolving conflict God's way? Would you like to know what they are? Join me in this episode to discover the answers.

The four main ways to avoid conflict:

  • Walking in Humility
  • Learn Gentleness
  • Forgiveness
  • Patience

What You'll Discover in this Episode:

  • The more we walk in the Lord, the easier the conflicts will become and the quicker they will be resolved.
  • Humble people have a realistic expectation of themselves and are willing to extend grace to others because they’ve been given grace.
  • The book of Job is a great example of Humility.
  • No matter what comes your way, trust in the Lord.
  • The more we are content, it causes less conflict in our lives.

Please provide a transcript of the podcast so that the salient points can be learned and practiced and perhaps included in our notebooks.

That was so helpful and I totally agree with the lesson. I strongly believe that humbleness is the key factor to those who believe in Jesus Christ. The Bible says that Jesus has humbled Himself to die on the cross for mankind. James 1:22 says, ‘But be doers of the word and not hearers only.” Thank you for your great work in equipping fellow believers. May God so be with you.

I agree, the humility of Jesus is key.
