All too often, God's people are letting the world infect and affect the way they think.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2
When we care for a person's soul, we will point them to the scripture. Everyone's mind needs to be transformed day by day, by grace. As biblical counselors, this is one passage that helps us explain that we should give the Word of God consistent attention. It transforms out thinking so that we think and live God’s way.
God does the transforming work by His Spirit to the shape us the way He desires. As He impacts us in our mind, He works His will out in our experience.
Why does our mind have to be renewed?
Before being born again, we were in a bad place Ephesians 4:17-19 reminds us. Our spirit was not enlightened. In order to really comprehend God, we need our thinking renewed. A person with a changed heart and sanctified mind is equipped to help others find Jesus as their savior.
