1. Very important reminder that sometimes we want the promises of truth in God’s word but we dont want to abide in the word.
2.) Similarly we want the answer but not the “process” of abiding in Christ and His word.
And of course this is exactly where God wants us and others to be because it is in that living relationship that we are set free from the world and the flesh and the devil.
What a great reminder and call to live in the truth of God. This day in age it has become all too common to dismiss things we do not like by attributing it to someone else’s ‘truth.’ The “You do you, and I’ll do me” mentality has swept our entire country and culture. We must not back down from THE TRUTH that is scripture; the living breathing Word of God. Obviously, speaking in love and respect, but holding fast. Too often have I seen and heard fellow Christians default to someone else’s ‘truth’ to preserve their friendship and avoid hurting another person’s feelings. It is our responsibility to engage and challenge the thoughts that do not align with God’s Word.
Right on! I agree with you Timothy, we live in a world today where when the Truth, Biblical truth is being given, it is looked at by the world as false or judgmental. The problem is, is that those whom do not live for the Word or cling to it for use in everyday life, allow themselves to get wrapped up by the things of this World. Gods Word clearly states that not to conform to this world Romans 12:2.
This was an inspiring podcast sharing about the benefits of knowing the truth first Jesus who is truth and His word which is truth. It’s more than saying I know the truth , rather it is following Jesus: being his disciple and remaining in the Word. The question that Pastor Jeff asked Pastor Hines about the Laodicean believer has been a concern for me too. Why aren’t believers more passionate to grow and become like Christ. Pastor Hines response was priceless. He mentioned that believers want the answers but don’t want the process, we want the results but the disciplines we are not willing to apply. Having that living and loving relationship with Jesus will determine our hunger for Him and the Word. It is true without that hunger for Christ we can’t compel believers to grow or desire the Word. I am so grateful that God has given us so much truths in scripture that enables us to have a fruitful and victorious Christian life. My prayer is for believers to taste and see that God is good and so is His Word.
Hi Jocelyn that really struck me too. We often want the results but not the relationship. But we know that’s just not how God is. And praise Him for that. He wants to mould our hearts and set us free.
Thank you for this wonderful reminder. It had me thinking back to 20 years ago when I found myself fighting God, trying to have my way yet trying to have a relationship with him, and I was miserable. As mentioned our life is about being in relationship with God. The Word of God is an instruction manual for our life, but it also gives us knowledge of who God is, and allows us to truly know Him and grow in relationship with him. If I am not in the Word, this is when I lose sight of those things and I can find myself struggling.
Amen!! How can we expect to live in The Truth if we are not reading the Word. If we do not know the Word of God we cannot live in the Will of God.
Amen. As we get older it becomes easier to pray THY will be done and actually mean it!
